We believe in a future where every African child receives an outstanding education, regardless of background or geography. While many take education for granted, millions of children in Africa cannot say the same12. The Nemmank Foundation is dedicated to breaking this cycle through targeted investments in educational infrastructure, resources, and innovative solutions.

Our Mission in Abiriba and Beyond.

The Nemmank Foundation focuses on improving health and education in African communities, with a special commitment to Abiriba.

We Invest In:

If Abiriba is to unlock its next wave of growth, education systems can no longer rely on incremental change. They must be redesigned intentionally, inclusively, and with the courage to confront structural barriers that have kept too many young people on the margins

The Challenge:

  • 85% of the population in rural settlements like Abiriba lacks an academic career mentor

  • Every 1 in 3 school children lacks clean water

  • Schools often have over 100 children sharing one toilet

  • High dropout rates in Abiriba due to economic pressures on families.

Our Approach

1. Community Partnership Model
We work directly with grassroots organizations like ACIU and Enachioken with his Cabinet. We work with local partners to ensure community benefits through patronage of the local labour force, locally sourced materials, and others.

2. Holistic Development
Following the model of successful foundations, we address interconnected needs:

  • School construction and renovation

  • Clean water infrastructure

  • Health clinics

  • Digital literacy and technology access

3. Evidence-Based Solutions
We collaborate with School administrators/teachers to ensure our interventions are effective, supporting Abiriba education and using data to improve educational outcomes.

4. Technology Innovation
We use innovative technology to accelerate learning and unlock the potential of children in Africa’s poorest communities, including digital infrastructure development and teacher capacity building.

Nemmank Foundation: Transforming Digital Learning at Egwuena Girls High School, Abiriba

The Nemmank Foundation is proud to detail our comprehensive, ongoing intervention at Egwuena Girls High School in Abiriba, a transformative project designed to revolutionize digital literacy and learning for the girls. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide by creating a modern, safe, and inspiring ICT environment. This work is a testament to our commitment to empowering young women through technology and quality education infrastructure.

Project Overview & Completed Work

Our intervention has been holistic, addressing every critical aspect of the school’s ICT Lab to ensure durability, functionality, and a conducive learning atmosphere. The following major phases have been successfully completed:

  1. Structural Integrity & Weatherproofing:

    • Complete Re-roofing: We executed a full re-roofing of the ICT Lab building, ensuring a durable, leak-proof structure that protects the sensitive technological equipment within from the elements.
  2. Core Electrical & Network Modernization:

    • Complete Electrical Re-wiring & New Infrastructure: The entire electrical system was overhauled. We deployed a new, safe, and robust electrical infrastructure featuring modern distribution boards, strategic circuit segmentation for load management, and new plug-in terminals to support multiple devices safely.
    • Advanced Network Infrastructure: A new, future-proofed Ethernet and Internet network infrastructure was installed, forming the backbone for seamless digital connectivity and learning.
  3. Interior Reconstruction & Aesthetic Upgrade:

    • Re-flooring: The old floor was replaced with easy-to-maintain, durable, and aesthetically befitting floor tiles, enhancing the lab’s cleanliness and professional appearance.
    • New Ceiling & Lighting: We installed a state-of-the-art POP (Plaster of Paris) smooth, reflective ceiling with mild decorative elements. This significantly improves interior brightness by reflecting light more effectively, reducing the dependency on artificial lighting and creating a more pleasant learning environment.
    • Wall Renovation: Comprehensive screeding and repainting of both the interior and exterior walls were carried out, giving the entire structure a fresh, bright, and revitalized look.
  4. Critical Infrastructure Replacement:

    • Window Replacement: All old metal windows were completely replaced with state-of-the-art glass casement windows. This upgrade provides more space, maximizes natural daylight visibility (reducing eye strain), and significantly cuts down on the damaging glare from computer screens, creating a healthier visual environment for students.
    • Solar Power System Repair: We repaired the damaged solar power supply system, ensuring a reliable backup power source for uninterrupted learning and tutorial presentations, which is crucial in a region with unstable grid power.

Work in Progress & Immediate Next Steps

The foundation’s work is actively ongoing to fully equip the lab. We are currently focused on:

  1. Furniture Deployment:

    • Construction of Ergonomic Computer Desks: We are in the final stages of constructing and installing over 30 units of state-of-the-art, ergonomic computer desks. These desks are specifically designed for digital learning, promoting proper posture and comfort for extended use.
  2. Technology Deployment:

    • Deployment of Computer Systems: The procurement and configuration of over 30+ computers and essential accessories (keyboards, mice, etc.) are underway. This will provide each student with hands-on access to a dedicated machine for practical learning.

Anticipated Impact

Upon completion, the new ICT Lab at Egwuena Girls High School will:

  • Provide a safe, modern, and fully equipped digital hub for over 30 students per session.

  • Dramatically enhance the quality of ICT education and digital skills training.

  • Reduce operational costs through improved energy efficiency (natural lighting, solar power) and durable, low-maintenance finishes.

  • Inspire the students by providing an environment that matches global standards, boosting their confidence and aspirations in STEM fields.

The Nemmank Foundation remains deeply committed to seeing this project through to its final milestone. We believe that by investing in this infrastructure, we are investing in the future of these young women, equipping them with the tools to become innovators, leaders, and drivers of change in the digital age.

This is more than a renovation; it’s a foundation for future excellence.
